Welcome to Aragon

Congratulations on beginning your journey in Scars of Honor! The world of Aragon is vast and filled with opportunities for adventure, danger, and glory. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know during your first day so you can hit the ground running.

Character Creation

Your first decision is choosing a race and class. Scars of Honor offers 8 unique races and 10 distinct classes, each with their own strengths, lore, and playstyle. Take your time here — while you can always create alts later, your main character will be your primary identity in the guild.

  • Consider what role you enjoy most: tanking, healing, or dealing damage.
  • Each race has passive bonuses that synergize with certain classes.
  • Read the lore blurbs — your race determines your starting zone and early story.
  • Don't stress about making the "perfect" choice. Every combination is viable.

Basic Controls & UI

Once you're in the world, spend a few minutes familiarizing yourself with the interface. Open your inventory, check the map, and experiment with your first abilities. The game features an action combat system, so positioning and timing matter from the very start.

Tip: Join the Slipstream Discord and check #new-members for guild expectations, comms setup, and how to get into your first organized run.

Your First Quests

Follow the main story quest line marked with a golden marker. These quests teach you core mechanics like combat, gathering, and interacting with NPCs. By the time you finish your starting zone, you should be around level 10 and ready to head to the first major hub city.

Two Factions, One War

The world of Aragon is divided between two warring factions: The Sacred Order and The Domination. Every player must pledge allegiance to one side, and this choice shapes your entire experience — from the quests you receive to the players you can group with in open-world PvP.

The Sacred Order

The Sacred Order values honor, justice, and the protection of the realm. They stand as defenders against chaos and seek to unite the peoples of Aragon under a banner of peace. Mechanically, Sacred Order players gain access to unique faction quests, vendors, and stronghold territories on the western side of the map.

The Domination

The Domination believes in strength, ambition, and the right of the powerful to rule. They see the Sacred Order as naive and weak. Domination players access their own exclusive quest lines, vendors, and control the eastern stronghold territories.

Faction Benefits

  • Exclusive faction gear available at faction vendors once you reach certain reputation tiers.
  • Access to faction-specific world bosses and raid encounters.
  • Participation in large-scale faction warfare events with unique rewards.
  • Faction chat channel for coordinating with all allies on your server.
Tip: Slipstream currently operates on the Sacred Order faction. Make sure you choose Sacred Order during character creation to join us!

Why Play a Warrior Tank?

The Warrior is the quintessential front-line defender in Scars of Honor. With high base health, strong mitigation cooldowns, and excellent threat generation, a well-played Warrior tank is the backbone of any dungeon or raid group. If you enjoy leading the charge and keeping your party alive, this build is for you.

Stat Priorities

  • Constitution — Your primary stat. More health means more survivability and stronger shield abilities.
  • Fortitude — Increases physical damage reduction and block effectiveness.
  • Strength — Secondary stat for threat generation. You need enough to hold aggro.
  • Endurance — Governs stamina regeneration for blocking and dodging.

Core Skill Rotation

Your opening rotation should establish threat immediately. Start with Shield Slam to generate burst threat, follow with Commanding Shout to apply a threat-over-time aura, then cycle through Devastating Strike and Shield Block to maintain aggro while mitigating incoming damage. Use Defiance as your emergency cooldown when damage spikes.

Gear Recommendations

Prioritize heavy plate armor with Constitution and Fortitude bonuses. Look for shields with high block value rather than block chance — in Scars of Honor, consistent damage reduction outperforms unreliable procs. For weapons, a one-handed mace with threat generation stats is ideal for dungeon content.

Tip: Always carry a set of DPS gear for solo questing. Swapping to a two-handed weapon makes your daily quests significantly faster.

How Dungeon Scaling Works

One of the most unique features in Scars of Honor is the dungeon scaling system. Unlike traditional MMOs where you outlevel a dungeon and never return, dungeons in Aragon scale to stay relevant throughout your entire journey. Every 10 levels, previously completed dungeons receive a new difficulty tier with updated mechanics, loot, and challenges.

The Scaling Tiers

  • Tier 1 (Level 1-10) — The introductory version. Teaches basic dungeon mechanics.
  • Tier 2 (Level 11-20) — Adds new boss abilities and trash mob mechanics.
  • Tier 3 (Level 21-30) — Introduces hard enrage timers and coordinated group checks.
  • Tier 4 (Level 31-40) — Endgame difficulty. Requires optimized builds and teamwork.

Why You Revisit Zones

This system means that no part of the world becomes obsolete. That first dungeon you cleared at level 5 will be a completely different experience when you return at level 35. New loot tables are added at each tier, and some of the best endgame gear comes from high-tier versions of early dungeons. This keeps the entire world populated and active.

Tips for Scaling Content

Always check the recommended gear score for the tier you're attempting. Scaling content assumes you have appropriate gear from the previous tier. Communication with your group is key, especially in Tier 3 and above where mechanics become punishing. The guild runs weekly dungeon nights — join them to learn the fights in a supportive environment.

Tip: Check the #dungeon-groups channel on Discord to find groups for specific tiers. Our members are always pushing the next tier and there is always a group forming.

What Are Guild Wars?

Guild Wars are large-scale organized PvP events where guilds face off for territory, ranking points, and exclusive rewards. These battles test every aspect of a guild's strength — coordination, builds, leadership, and individual skill. They are the pinnacle of competitive guild content in Scars of Honor.

Team Composition

A successful guild war team needs a balanced composition. The standard setup includes a front line of 2-3 tanks to hold chokepoints, a back line of healers for sustained support, and a flexible DPS core that mixes ranged and melee damage dealers. Every guild war also benefits from having a dedicated shot-caller who directs target focus and positioning.

  • Tanks (2-3) — Hold the front, disrupt enemy positioning, and protect healers.
  • Healers (2-3) — Keep the team alive. Prioritize dispels and area heals.
  • Melee DPS (3-4) — Dive priority targets called by the shot-caller.
  • Ranged DPS (2-3) — Maintain pressure from distance and control the battlefield with AoE.

Preparation Checklist

  • Ensure your PvP gear is fully repaired and enchanted before the event.
  • Stock up on consumables: health potions, buff food, and crowd-control immunity scrolls.
  • Review the war map and understand the objectives for the specific battleground.
  • Join the Discord voice channel at least 15 minutes early for the strategy briefing.
  • Know your role. If assigned to the dive team, practice your burst combos.

Strategy Fundamentals

Guild wars are won through coordination, not individual plays. Stick with your assigned group, follow the shot-caller's targets, and never overextend. Controlling objectives is more important than chasing kills. The team that holds two out of three control points wins, regardless of the kill score.

Tip: Attend the weekly PvP scrimmage nights to practice your guild war skills in a low-pressure environment before the real thing.
